Detailed PE File Version tab in Windows Explorer? RRS feed

  • Question

  • I miss the detailed File Version information tab in Windows Explorer from the Windows XP days.

In Windows XP, if you viewed the properties of a Portable Executable file (such as an EXE or DLL), there was a Version tab that showed File version, Description, Copyright, and Other version information (with quite a lot of detailed information). This has been replaced in Windows 7 with a much less fulfilling "Details" tab. The Details tab misses some useful information, such as "SpecialBuild".

I am not sure if this change happened during Windows Vista or Windows 7. But, I'd like to get the detailed Version tab back. Is there any way to view this information? Or, can anybody suggest a third-party utility that shows all this information in an easy-to-digest way?

I'm using this 3rd party solution, because I also miss this feature since Vista:
