Desktop icons won't drag to folders RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've lost the ability to drag desktop icons into other folders on the desktop as a way to organize them.  In fact I can't drag icons anywhere else on the desktop.  There is a circle with a slash when I try to drag any icon.  Also, a new vertical bar is on the left side of my computer screen with three headings: Folder Tasks, Other Options, and Details.  How do I get rid of this?  I bet the two problems are related because they started simultaneously.  Any help is greatly appreciated.
