       b. run below command to rename file:
       ren %systemroot%\System32\Catroot2 oldcatroot2
       ren %systemroot%\SoftwareDistribution oldSD

       c. run below command to start service:

  • Always publish all relevant information. Error ID is one of important information (miising here).

    1. Look into update history and confirm that the computer attempts to download correct updates. Write a note on KBs.

    2. Restore to previus restore point.

    3. Download updates manually and install updates in correct order.

If this does not help use troubleshooter.

  • Windows 7 Professional on my laptop is stuck at 35% of Configuring Updates.

I have tried to reboot it in Safe Mode, and I also tried the restore option, but even this did not sort out this problem because because there is a restore point only and it is very recent.
The only solution would be through the Windows Administrator window, but I would need a step-by-step instruction on how to do that from there.
