Add Win2008 R2 to Win2008 RMS Cluster RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello

I have (had) AD RMS cluster based on Windows 2008, with seperate SQL server for database.

I have added new server to this cluster, but it was Windows 2008 R2 version with RMS server role installed

Right know, I receive error like this:

    Server Error in '/_wmcs/certification' Application.

AD RMS is attempting to use a database whose version is incompatible (current major database version:6).  Please upgrade AD RMS to the appropriate version (major version:7).

How can I fix it now? How can I upgrade this database version?

What will happend with all computers with Win2008 in RMS cluster?

How can I rollback this procedure? (I mean, installing Win 2008 R2 in Win2008 AD RMS cluster)

    Thank in advance!

  • Is/was your intention to upgrade AD RMS to Server 2008 R2?  If not, it seems like that is your best bet at this point.  Try running the AD RMS Upgrade Wizard.  Note that the Server 2008 servers with the AD RMS role will need to be updated to Server 2008 R2 thereafter.  See:

  • Hi,

No, it wasn't my intention to upgrade to Win 2008 R2.

Anyway, after moving all computers in cluster to win 2008 r2 everything  works fine.

    Thanks.
