Links in emails will not work - scrolls to the top of the page RRS feed

  • Question

  • Using Windows 8 and Internet explorer 10.  When I go to get my email from Comcast I can open it but if I try to click on a link in the middle of the page it scrolls to the top of the page, and will not go to the link.  There are also some dotted lines around the emails and around the words at the top bar such as delete, etc.   I tried a system restore and that did not work.  I downloaded Firefox and then all is well.  I ran my Windows defender full scan and also ran Malwarebytes Anti-malware full scan and nothing showed up.  I have restarted numerous time.  This all started happening about a week ago after the computer had not been one for at least a week.

    Can someone help?

  • Hi,

"Scrolls to the top of the page"...... indicates that you have active scripting turned off or an addon in your browser is altering scripted links or your Aniti-virus program.

    <a href="#" onclick="window.location.url='http://foobar.com';">foobar</a>

Possibly a popup blocker addon or the built-in IE popup blocker.

Internet Options>Security tab, click "Reset all zones to default"

for consumer help with IE post to http://answers.microsoft.com (Help>Online Support menu from IE). Include in your question the address of any websites you are having problems with, and in your case your anti-virus program.

this forum is for questions about administering/installing IE on domain connected networks for system administrators.

    Regards.
