Upgrade from Windows Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Home Premium?

Question
-
Hello:
I have 2 PCs with Vista Ultimate it on and I bought 2 "upgrades" (or downgrades - you decide) to
Windows 7 Home Premium (I never use Bit Locker and only need English).
When I bought the upgrades (Amazon.com), it stated that I can do this upgrade.
However when I attempted to upgrade it stated that I can only do a reinstall.
Can I purchase an upgrade from 7 Home Premium to 7 Ultimate that works at preinstall or
is there a work around?
There is nothing I hate more about Windows than having to reinstall applications, drivers, and
updating the registry.
Thanks in advance:Monday, November 2, 2009 11:33 AM

Hi,
Upgrading from Vista Ultimate to Windows 7 Home Premium is not supported. Here is the detailed information:

You may need to contact Amazon to replace the product.

Hi,
To do an upgrade from within Vista Ultimate you will need W7 ultimate.
( ie. Vista Ultimate 32bit to W7 Ultimate upgrade 32bit and the same for 64bit. )
You will have to do a clean install with the W7 Home Premium you brought.
Why not explain to Amazon that you need to swap W7 home Premium upgrade with W7 Ultimate upgrade and pay the difference in price.
See link below for info on Versions,
