Windows Mobile Device Center File Sync Directory Problem? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I have a HP iPac rx5915 using WM5. The desktop used for synchronizing is Win 7 Pro on a peer to peer network. I am using WMDC 6.1 with the driver update. The file sync directory (the PPC’s My Documents) was on a file server named \home-share\user documents\Documents on user_PPC

This configuration has worked well and reliably for the last 2 years. What has changed is I replaced the file server PC with a new one named \home-share-2\. This has caused a problem with WMDC.

Now WMDC is set to file synchronize from C:\Windows\Documents on Barry_PPC. I need to change this folder path somehow to \home-share-2\users\Barry Docs\Documents on Barry_PPC

I have uninstalled/ re-installed WMDC 6.1. I have factory defaulted the OS on the PPC. I have searched the registry for the current folder path to see if it could be changed there (was not found). In Windows 7, the default Library Documents save location is pointing to the new server \home-share-2\.

Please help if you know how to change WMDC folder synchronize location.

    Thank you,

    Barry

  • I am not very familiar with OneDrive but I thought that is more of a Windows Phone/Cloud thing. I don’t think it is applicable to the legacy Pocket PC. Even so I still don't see away to redirect the sync folder to the OneDrive?

  • I appreciate the replies to all. I agree that onedrive is better when used with Windows Phone 8.1. I have used it with my Nokia 928.

But the Pocket PC is 2003 tech. I still need it for some legacy apps that the Win Phone 8 cannot do.

I have discovered another issue with my desktop system. Office document are now saving to the System32  folder. It seems the desktop has been corrupted in some way. I think the easies fix is to do a system image restore that is only 3 months old.

    Thanks,  for the suggestions.

  • Can you find a replacement for the pocket PC application? Those things are over 10 years behind the curve.
