windows media center RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a recorded show and when I try to delete it and put the mouse over it, my screen immediately goes to an error box that says Windows Media Center has stopped working and then the screen goes back to the startup screen where I choose between recorded tv, guide, live tv, etc.  Even if I just try to go through my lists of recorded shows and pass over this "corrupt" recording, the screen immediately goes to the same error box.  How else can I get into the recorded shows to delete this one show causing the error message?

  • Hi,

Please recall carefully what you have done before this condition firstly occurred, try rollback those operations to see the result at first.

Next, in my opinion, I suggest to disable and then enable windows Media Center on expanding Media features from the Windows on or off features option and check if this resolves the issue.

Also, please try execute a clean boot and open Windows Media Center again to delete that record.

Besides, we can collect event log to know what happened when Windows Media Player crashed, please go to event viewer to see it.

    Best regards,

  • Are you able to play it using different Media Player software?

Are you able to play any other media using Windows Media Player?

    Try update your graphic card.

  • I'm not trying to play the show but rather delete it.  Currently every time I go through my list of recorded shows and I happen to go past this one "corrupt" show, it knocks me off the screen and shows the pop up error message.  I just want to delete this one show.

  • If Windows says that a program has stopped working, then that actually means that the program has crashed. Please post the technical details of the crash here. Open the Start menu, type event in the Search box, and click on Event Viewer in the list of programs.

In Event Viewer, go to Windows Logs - Application, and look for Error in that list, there should be such an event for each crash. Double-click the latest event and copy/paste its description into your reply.

  • Geez - all he wants to do is delete it. Go into the Recorded TV folder, find it by name, delete it!
