Questions about FIM CLM RRS feed

  • Question

  • We are wanting to "bulk" enroll our current set of users for smart cards....approximately 7000 users.  The question is:  How can we bulk enroll those users for their smart card certificate?  I know we can bulk issue the cards...however, there doesn't seem to be a way to select hundreds or even more than one user for enrollment.  Obviously bulk issuance on a bulk issuance compatible printer is nice, but ultimately useless if we have to do enrollment one user at a time.

  • IIRC, you can use this for this purpose, it allows you to manage this in bulk. I don't remember the details but I think it might be starting point. This existed for CLM 2007 and should be similar in FIM CM.

  • Another option is to use the External SQL API:

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb468093%28v=vs.100%29.aspx

    msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/bb468062(v=vs.100).aspx

I personally do not have a high level of confidence in the FIM CM MA (missing a lot of functionality).

It does work well for provisioning, but lacks lots in ongoing certificate lifecycle management.

  • Abandoned....someone come back and reply when Microsoft actually starts using FIM CM to print their own ID/smart cards with photos on them.

  • Is there anyway while using bulk issuance client that when card is enrolled, you wouldn't need to click Run for the next enrollment? I would imagine that you could just batch process all the requests in the list without clicking a button after every card print...
