Workflow Not Progressing to Next Stage RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello!

I am new to SharePoint Designer and have a requirement from a customer to finish their Project Online setup. After watching hours and hours of videos, I cannot pinpoint where my workflow is wrong. My workflow is based on someone submitting a new Enterprise Project where I am pulling from what is submitted via custom fields and lookup tables (simple yes/no) to transition  to the  next  stage. I have had luck manually pushing to the 2nd stage and approvals showing up. After I approve, nothing happens. It never moves to the 4th/Execution stage.

Is this not possible? What am I missing?

    Thanks!!

  • Are you saying that you cannot exit Stage 2 to Stage 4?  Have you watched https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WDq2BC7mcnU&feature=youtu.be

  • Thanks for the reply! Your video was great.

The workflow works in the logical sense but I have to change the workflow stage manually under 'Change or Restart Workflows'. I have been able to take it all the way to post mortem-- my final stage and end of workflow.

I'm still not able to add images to my post, but I've added them to my onedrive.

  • Krystal,

You have a 'wait for event: project submitted' action AFTER the approval is complete, so the system is completing the approval, then waiting for you to actually click the submit button in the project to move to next stage, which is why it seems like nothing is happening.

Remove the 'wait for event: project submitted' under S2 and see if it works for you.

Also, all your actions need to be "UNDER" the If Project Web App Starts the workflow...... other wise whenever you restart the workflow, the approval tasks are going to be retriggered, which I presume you do not want.

  • Thank you. That seems to be the problem. The client does not want to hit submit under the workflow page. They just want to click on the finish button and it to move on to the second stage. My Stage one states that the workflow waits for event: when a project is submitted. Is there anything around this? Can I set my wait for event as something else? Thank you!
