Microsoft project 2010 stops working RRS feed

  • Question

  • My project 2010 stops working the moment I try to switch from the default calender. The drop down list does not appear and the project stops working. Wonder if anyone had a similar experience and how to resolve this?

  • Hello Amit,

Is it Windows 7 ? Have you tried running Project 2010 in safe mode (starting with Ctrl key pressed) ?

  • Are you connected to the Project server? You are switching Calendar in Project Information or for some resource? Hope you have latest SP for the Project.

  • Thanks Sapna,

I am not connected to the Project Server. I just bought project yesterday, so might be having the latest server pack integrated. I was testing project's various features and was switching calender in project info dialogue.

  • Please check by clicking on Help -> About Microsoft Project - it has hyperlink - Additional Version and Copyright Information, there you can check for SP.

  • Hi Amit,

It doesn't have SP. When you will get it installed on first line it will say : Microsoft Project 2010(14.0.471.1000) SP1 MSO (and so on)

  • Surprise!,

There are no messages related to the times when project stopped working. There are messages to all other events.

Sapna, thanks again for following up my queries so quickly!

  • I am using MS office2010 now, which I also bought yesterday. There is no particular file. I was trying the features of project in a new blank file and when I tried to switch between different calenders, it hanged. Later, I realised that the project is stopping whenever I try to use any drop-down list.

  • Have not particularly seen such issues, is it only with the Calendar Drop-down list or other drop-down also?

  • Is it 32-bit or 64-bit?

  • There is no file... I opened up a blank project and was looking through various functions like changing calenders, exporting to excel etc. Each time I clicked on a drop down list, project stopped responding.
