User name not adding itselft to net name alias list RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We use net send command over our LAN to send messages to users.

In the new computers, DELL Optiplex 3010, when users log in, their username is not adding to alias list that you can see with net name command, so, the net send is not working because it can not find the username in the LAN.

The messenger service starts correcly at windows login.

The computer name its adding correctly.

    Thanks in advance, regards.

  • Hi,

Try temporarily disabling the windows firewall. If inbound NetBios is blocked then this would cause the same issue you experience

    Hi, Thanks for response.

The syntax for net send is: net send username message

Here you can see a screenshot of net name in these Optiplex, computername alias is not added either.

    Messenger service is runing.

Windows firewall is disabled, but, it causes username alias not adding to net name list?

    Regards
