FAST Search Site - Fast Server hook up check - fix RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi

Having done about 30 steps i on paper have a FAST Search server working and a FAST Search site in Sharepoint.
    I am not using https

http://abc-sp2010:30000/_admin/search/managefiletypes.aspx?appid={a6ccb6e7-70c9-4d46-a709-5f2fde914c02} on the server side shows the crawl rules and this seems to be working (i assume this is using Fast Search crawling..).

On the FastSearch server side  http://localhost:13280/  works and i can see files ( http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff381272.aspx )

However in the event viewer (fast Search Farm) i can see messages like :

syd-fastsearch: Admin error occurred during loading of keyword data. The keyword cache may be stale. Exception Message:Failed to communicate with the WCF service

syd-fastsearch:13260: Process qrproxy terminated shortly after starting

qrproxy shows a status of dead when you do the nctrl status command.

Guide does not indicate what you should do if you see errors.

Over in Sharepoint, i get no results.
In the gude ( can't find)  i am following it has "Verify the search results in SP" yet has no URL for fault finding.

Once again the guide has no reference to what to do here.

    >> Can you give me some hints to check the FAST Search Site is hooked up to the FAST Search web service and how to debug ?

    Thanks

    Sp Side

Note: The crawl rule added was for a network drive showing 4000 entries. i ASSUME this is included in a search when you say "All Sites" ..

When i click on preferences i get a

    Error

    An unexpected error has occurred.

Troubleshoot issues with Microsoft SharePoint Foundation.

FASTSearch Server side - No entries under IIS , not sure if it is meant to ? Thus not possible to click on "directory browsing"

    PS C:\FASTSearch\bin> Get-FASTSearchContentCollection

  • Closing this off.

I re-installed Fast Search, and deleted the SP2010 Fast search items and started again. This time i must have done all ok and it seems to be working.

Note 1: "The keyword cache may be stale. Exception Message:Failed to communicate with the WCF service" Error fixed using http://blogs.like10.com/2011/01/06/fast-search-for-sharepoint-2010-event-id-1000/ (note the point to add the local group)

Note 2: To MS, the documentation needs to be clearer and have better troubleshooting. By default it seems like a FASTSearchKeywordAdministrators is not created.

    Thanks Thomas for your input.
