Install PerformancePoint 2007 an a Domain Controller for demo purposes RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I have referred to this article

    http://blogs.msdn.com/performancepoint/archive/2007/11/08/installing-performancepoint-on-a-domain-controller.aspx

Performance Point is not recommended to be installed in a domain controller.

i would like to clarify the below statement

    M&A

The DC must be set up after the M&A installation.  You cannot install M&A on a DC box.

is it mean that DC must be setup after M&A ? anyone have tried successfully installing PerformancePoint in a domain controller ?

    Thanks,

    Hadi

  • Hadi,

For PPS Monitoring Server the server would need to be a member server prior to the initial install and configuration of Monitoring.  Then after Monitoring is installed and configured you can promote the server to a DC.  If the machine is already a DC then you will not be able to install PPS Monitoring on it.  I must also stress that this is an unsupported scenario and should only be used if it is needed for demo purposes.
