GPO To Configure Remote Desktop Store App Settings?

    Question

  • Is there any way to manage the settings in this app via GPO or other means?  We would like to disable  the feature that is on by default that selects "Show thumbnails of recent desktops on the home screen."

We would like to have kiosk terminals that autologin and only runs this Remote Desktop app.  Since each user would be using the same Windows profile, to avoid some confusion and perhaps add security, we would like make sure that thumbnails of previous connections are never shown and the users do not have the ability to save their RDP credentials.

We would like the home screen to stay clean and each user would type their computer name or IP address in manually each time.

  • Hi,

Thanks for posting. It's easy to disable the 'Show thumbnails of recent desktops on the home screen' feature via modify the connection settings.

You can follow the steps below:

    • In order to access the settings, you should first open up the charms and then click or tap Settings.
    • There, select the Connection Settings option from the list, shown in the Settings charm.
    • In the Advanced, turn off the "Show thumbnails of recent desktops on the home screen " feature.

    Hope it helps.
