Direct Access And Outlook 2010 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

I'm desperately trying to get Outlook 2010 to work with our Direct Access setup.

We're using the Force Tunnelling mode and are getting an error from Outlook advising the Default Gateway isn't set.

I've looked extensively through the Internet and have only found the registry add for the RPC which doesn't work, however I'm not sure if I'm missing something else.

When you use Outlook from a Direct Access Client, do you just double click and let it set itself up? Or does it use Outlook Anywhere to connect?

Outlook Anywhere is currently disabled on our Exchange 2010 server.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    Thanks.

  • I've managed to resolve this - I was making the rookie mistake of applying the registry key logged on as my Admin account, logging off, and then logging on as my normal user account, which of course didn't have the registry key applied.

I've pushed this out through a Group Policy now which applies it to every user as they log on.

  • Hello Chris,

When you are connected through DA, your machine will be connecting to Exchange - CAS, as if you are connecting through LAN, so you do not need to use Outlook Anywhere.

To begin with, you can try to ping/check connectivity to Exchange CAS servers when you are connected through DA.

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the response.

Yes, I can ping the Exchange Servers no problem.

Looks like I'm back to the same problem everyone else has with no default gateway set, but the registry fix doesn't work for me.

    Any other ideas?

    Thanks.
