Windows 7 user password change or deletion

    Question

  • I loaned out my laptop to a friend and he sold it to some dude named mike for rent money. After I regained possession of my laptop it was locked. I've followed these routes in attempting to change or delete the administrator "mike" but continue to get this error. This gentleman named mike changed my passwords obviously or my EX friend did.

    System error 5 has occured

    Access is denied.

after going into C:\Users>net users mike /passwordreq:no or /del

    The computer name \\mike-PC

    Please advise. Thank you.

  • You need to rename the computer.

Probaby the admin account was renamed, you can rename mike to the one you want.

  • Hi BCAPLE,

According to your error, it says that the command does not run in administrator mode. You could rename the computer as arnavsharma provided.

Also we could try to enable the built-in administrator account, then trying to delete the password.
