Where do I download UE-V from? RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hello all,

I've been trying to download UE-V and the copy found in licensing.microsoft.com doesn't seem to be compatible with Windows 10 (1809). Does anyone know the link download link for UE-V?

    Thanks!

  • I also would like to download UE-v 2.1 SP1 for Windows 10 v1809 - did you ever get and answer to your question?

First off, the version in the Microsoft licensing portal is the old version; I tried it.

Second, after speaking to my MS Enterprise Team (yes, I had to open a case and then speak to our MS Enterprise Account Team); I was informed that MS hasn't done any major development of this technology in a while (and that's the reason why the licensing portal has an outdated version), and we took this information from MS and decided not to pursuit this technology as it may not be supported in the near future.

Instead of UE-V we're going with OneDrive for Business folder re-direction and implementing other user experience changes.

    I hope this helps.

  • Hi,

can't say I can help with the actual problem at hand but you should start looking at FSLogix which has been acquired by MSFT and can be used at no additional cost in certain licensing scenarios.

  • I went to this site https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/default.aspx and did a search for User experience virtualizaiton v2.1 sp1 and nothing comes up.  Can you provide me with a link so I can download UE-V v2.1 sp1?

  • Thanks for your response.  Our company has a E3 volume licensing agreement with Microsoft and I too downloaded UE-V v2.1 SP1 from the Microsoft Volume Licensing Service Center and it fails with this error:

    • The application 'Microsoft User Experience Virtualization Agent' cannot be installed because it is not compatible with this version of Windows. Contact the application vendor for an update.

I will have to check with our Microsoft TAM to see if anything is available.

    Thanks again for your response

  • Your TAM team will let you know the same info as ours did.

What is the current and future state of UE-V (User Experience Virtualization)?

This would help you as well...

  • UEV is no longer a separate download and is now part of the operating system. I believe this happened with Windows 10 1607. To enable it, simply configure the GPO settings as per your needs and you are all set. I do have customers using it with Windows 10 1903 and 1803. It does work fine and is supported as part of the Operating system support cycle. Just don't expect anything new because it sounds like development has stalled there.
