Exchange 2003/2010 issue...maybe RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi everyone

got a weird issue that has arisen. mail outage today on our 2003 box. running a co existence scenario with 2010 but all users are still on 2003 for now.

restarting system attendant service. refused to restart stating that "the SA didnt have sufficient rights to read Exchange configuration objects in AD" someone had been messing around with the AD security groups and moved a lot of them out of the default users container. i have now put them back and the services restarted but ever since mail is now running really slow, bes is having issues. the whole lot is grinding to a halt.

my question is... what default groups should be in the default users container and what should the exchange server be a member of in terms of built in groups and where should these be located.

hope someone can help as google has turned up nothing about this :(

  • Yes, there are a few groups which should be in the default users container per:

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/260914

You should also run ExBpa against the servers, it should tell you if the groups are in the the correct place.
