  • We are using FIM-CM to send renewal notification. Our senior management is reqiring that those messages be digitally signed. Can FIM-CM be sentup to do the signing?

  • There is no functionality included in the product to sign emails. I see at least two options to implement a solution though:

    1. Configure FIM CM to drop off the notification mails in the file system, then pick them up from there and add the signature through a component of your own.
    2. Perform the signing somewhere in the SMTP chain, i.e. configure FIM CM to send the mails to a secure mail gateway where the signing would be performed.

    Both options basically come down to "intercept the mail and add a signature yourself"; if this will satisfy your senior management's security requirements is a different question though... if not, another option might be to use the Notification API to catch OTP distribution events and use that to bypass FIM CM's built in mail notification infrastructure altogether.

  • Thanks for the reply. We are considering doing something similiar to what you suggest, but wanted to check that we weren't missing something simple.
