I've read a buch of info and spoken to an expert on this but I'm not certain about one part of the process to "reset" the sms id PRIOR to moving to SCCM. The duplicate ids are on SMS 2003 clients, we want to sort out that problem before we move them
to the SCCM environment. If I'm reading this correctly (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/837374) all I need to do is delete the smscfg.ini and cycle the SMS Agent Host service. That will create
a new id and we can then install the SCCM client on the machine without issue. I have been told we also need to run the ccmdelcert.exe for this to work properly. Can someone please confirm that for me?
Thanks!

It's been a long time since I did this. I "think" you can just stop the agent service, delete the ini and start the service back up. It wouldn't hurt to run ccmdelcert of course.
