Track changes not showing up on different colors RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have a document where I received changes back from a client. The changes are in "red". I began making additional changes and initially, my changes showed up in "blue" until I saved the document. Then, the changes immediately changed to "red", and appeared as if they were made by my client.

Additionally, their "comments" had the name of "Author" in the comment box. When I added a comment, it showed my name, but when I saved the document, my name converted to "Author" as well, so there was not way of showing who made the comment.

    How do I resolve this?

  • I figured it out through many searches.  Somehow, the ability to allow personal data to be in the document was removed. In another post, it directed someone using MS Word 2007 to click on the Microsoft button and to "Inspect Document" where you can remove the personal data. In later versions, you need to click on the "File" tab.  On the main screen, it will show "Protect Document" and "Inspect Document".  If you click on the "check for issues" box next to the Inspect Document, it will review the document and identify issues that you may want to remove from your document. Here, you can choose to remove personal or company information. If you want to have the information saved in the document, under the words "Inspect Document" there are bullet pointed descriptions of what the document may contain.  At the bottom of the bullet-pointed items, in blue lettering are the words "Allow this information to be saved in your file".  Click on this link, and the problem is solved. You will be able to make changes to the document that will show up in a different color, and any comments you make will show your name in the comment box.
