Azure AD Sync upgrade RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

We are about to perform an upgrade from the current Azure AD Sync tool to Azure AD Connect.

We also want to move this "service" to another server.

    Questions:

    1) What is best practices for using accounts? Whall one use the same account for both online and on-prem sync (federated account) or shall one use a cloud id for the online part and a local account for the on-prem stuff? if you get my point? or doesn't it mater just as long as it is a global admin?

    2) if going from the old dirsync there seems to be an export configuration function, this feature does not seem to be working when going from AADSync? How shall one move to another server?

    3) If we uninstall the old AADSync and configure a new AADConnect will we break some stuff then or will it continue operating where "it was left off?" Does it mater if one use the same accounts as the old server or can one create new accounts with a new namingconvetion for the service accounts?

    4) Some step-to-step guide would be perfect! :)

    Thanks!
