IE admin template for IE10 and IE8 RRS feed

  • Question

  • the network has XP ad Win8 workstations.

IE10 Admin template - 1st priority (startup page) is set for Win8 users

but Win8 users sometimes logon XP workstations

Even IE8 admin template is set as 2nd priority.

Win8 users still fail to apply IE8 admin template at XP workstations.

Is the priority of IE template used as this way?  or other way to do it?

    Thanks a lot

  • Hi,

the Admin templates are back compatible...IE8 ignores settings for higher versions. the security zone templates in the registry retain the legacy item keys from previous IE versions.

    http://support.microsoft.com/kb/182569

use procmon to monitor which GP keys in the registry are read when IE starts.

You should ensure that all workstations however are using the latest versions of third-party addons/toolbars/BHO's.

for IE10 and higher, the default is EPM (enhanced protected mode) which requires x64 versions of your addons.

You may run into problems with Flash interoperability.

    Regards.
