Task Owner RRS feed

  • I'm very new to Project 2010 Standard and am looking for recommendations for the best way to assign a task owner. Specifically, I have a number of tasks where multiple resources are assigned to each task. In my schedule I want to show who the task owner is so it is clear who is responsible for making sure the task is completed. Should I just add a custom field column to show the task owner or is there a better way to do this?

    I personally would lean toward using a custom task Text field called Task Owner.  If you have a fairly small project team, you could create a Lookup Table in the custom field and list the names of every team member.  Then for any task, after you have assigned resources to the task, you could double-click the task, click the Custom Fields tab, and select a value in the Task Owner field as well.  Alternately, you could also insert the Task Owner column in the Gantt Chart view and select the owner.  Hope this helps.
