Move a dashboard, not all dashboards from Development to production RRS feed

  • We have a dashboard that we have been working on in development, it is now ready to deploy/migrate/move to the production environment.  What steps are invovled to perform this task?

    Hi Mark,


    There's really only want way to move a dashboard from dev to production.  You basically restore the database to whatever SQL instance it will be located in, then install and configure the dashboard software to connect to that database.  After that is complete the next step depends on if you need to point the dashboard views to a different server.  If the dashboard views will point to the same server there shouldn't be much extra configuration involved.


    If you're going to point dashboard to a new PAS server you'll need to re-point your views and parameters to the production PAS server.  Unfortunately there is no out-of-the box way to do this, however it can be done by writing a SQL script to update the 'Parameters' and 'PortletViews' tables.  In the script you'd be going through the 'PropertiesXML' field of each row, find the old PAS server name and replace it with the new one.  Also, if you do this and change the PAS server the same view on the production PAS server needs to have the same GUID as development.
