Excel file contents not searchable in Sharepoint RRS feed

  • We have an old Sharepoint 2003 installation with a Document Library that hosts an Excel form largely comprised of text boxes. (The form is used to collect information submitted by business users, and each new submission is stored on the Sharepoint server as its own file.)

    Until recently, the contents of those files (i.e., text that users entered into the text boxes) were searchable in Sharepoint. However, after creating a new document template to serve as the form a few weeks ago, contents of the forms submitted since then are no longer showing up in search results.

    No server configuration changes have been made, and the old forms (based on the old document template) are still showing up in search results. Is there a document property that might be causing this issue? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

  • Solved... I linked the text boxes to cells in a hidden worksheet, and now any Sharepoint searches on terms entered into those boxes are successful.
