WSS 3.0 and Windows 2000

Question
-
Does anyone know whether Wss 3.0 can be run from a Windows 2000 desktop? They are getting a different login box, and after filling in the information, it goes nowhere. I can't find anything about requirements for the client, just the server.
Thank you.

Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 runs on Windows Server 2003 with SP1 or later. We recommend that you apply all critical updates. You can use the following Windows Server 2003 editions:
-
Windows Server 2003, Standard Edition
-
Windows Server 2003, Enterprise Edition
-
Windows Server 2003, Datacenter Edition
-

You cannot run WSS 3.0 on Windows 2000 desktop. For more details check the link below
