BENQ Joybook No Sound through headphones RRS feed

  • Question

  •

I recently replaced the hard drive in my Benq Joybook 7000 and upgraded to Vista.

On my restore cd's the sound driver says it is Realtek but on my laptop it says the sound driver is 'Intel(r) 82801 DB/DBM AC '97 Audio Controller'

I can hear sound through my computer but not through headphones. I saw a thread about a dell latop having the same problems and they were advised to re-install their driver. I have tried this numerous times and it doesnt fix the problem.

I have tried uninstalling the driver but it continually re-installs itself.

    Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hello,

Firstly, please check if your headphone is working correctly. Connect it to another computer if possible.

Based on my experience and research, I think this issue is also possibly compatibility related. The audio card built in this laptop may not be designed to support Windows Vista and BenQ doesn’t release the driver for it. Please contact BenQ to confirm if there will be drivers of JoyBook 7000 designed for Windows Vista, if the headphone isn’t damaged.

    Cheers,

    Lionel
