  • The hard disk and the data stored on it should be fine. Build 9879 introduced functionality that used the PUIS (Power-Up in Standby) function of hard disks. This causes the hard disk to not spin up when power is applied, it instead waits for a separate spin-up command. Some system firmware does not send this command and thus the hard disks are either not seen in BIOS or appear incorrectly. This has been fixed by update KB3021937. If your disk is not appearing in BIOS, a third party utility must be used to disable PUIS. See the answer from The Windows Storage Team here in this thread at Microsoft Community.

  • Hi moskopia,

    What is your current situation?

I have checked your reply in this thread: Build 9879 - SSD and HDD, AMCI (should be AHCI?) Port0 Device Error is the  S.M.A.R.T. warning (Based on my research), which means there might be a disk failure with your hard disk, and this error message should have nothing to do with the operating system. When press F1, it may or may not boot into the operating system.

If you are currently running the other operating system, please perform a disk check, or seek help at the manufacturer side.

After that, try to clean install Windows 10, or try a dual boot. Before that, please backup the important files.
