Ubuntu 14 on Hyper-V 2008Rs - no network RRS feed

  • Question

  •  Set-up:
Virtual machine created on a Server 2008R2-based Hyper-V host. Legacy NIC.
I manager to install on it Ubuntu 14 64bit. No issues during the install.
Logged in first time and configured network manually with static IP. But no connection to the outside world whatsoever. Or from the outside to the VM.
This is the screenshot of the ipconfig output: ipconfig output
Note: Our IPs are not in the range of 192.168.x.x network.
I found some articles online that suggested to remove the virtual bridge (the virbr0 interface). Did that. Did not solved the problem (and the interface kept coming back after reboot :) ).
Other articles talked anbout adding some "hv_" modules to be loaded at start-up. I edited the /etc/initramfs/modules file as cited. No change in network connections after reboot. I checked the status of the loaded modules and looks like the hv_netvsc module is not loaded. Here is the relevant screenshot:

I am pretty lost here. All articles I found talk about earlier versions of Ubuntu. So, irrelevant.
Any ideas? Directions to keep looking?

Thank you in advance for your time.
