Hyper-V Integration Services not updating to version 6.3.9600.18398 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Team,

Need some inputs regarding the Hyper-V Integration Services version update. Here's our scenario:

    1. Hyper-V Host OS  - Win2012 R2

    2. Hyper-V Guest OS - Win2008 R2 - Integration Services Version is 6.3.9600.16384

We need to update the version to 6.3.9600.18398. We tried to install using vmguest.iso but it doesn't install the latest version. Do we miss something? Thanks.

  • The Integration Components are updated via Windows Update now.  I am pretty sure that's the only way to get the absolute latest version of the IC.

  • I am sure you are trying to be helpful, that is a worthless answer.

I am experiencing the same problem.  I have downloaded all available updates from MS.  When I look into C:\windows\System32, there is a file named vmguest.iso of size 27,066 KB and dated 5/26/2017.  I presume that is the date it was downloaded from MS Updates.   I insert that file into the virtual DVD drive for my vm and the disk label appears as "Integration Services Setup".   When I right-click that drive, it allows me to "Install Hyper-V Integration Services".  But, then I get the message "This computer is already running the current version of integration services (version 6.3.16384)".

    According to this article:

the latest version should be 6.3.9600.18398.

What am I doing wrong?  Where can I get a newer ISO file?
