Windows Movie Maker

Question

I upgraded to Windows 7 but I can no longer open, read or edit files created in Movie Maker. It looks as though the programme has been removed during the upgrade process. I need to get my files back. Can anyone help, PLEASE.Monday, October 4, 2010 1:12 PM

Unfortunately, Windows 7 does not include Windows Movie Maker anymore. The alternative is to download "Windows Live Essentials" and do install on "Windows Live Movie Maker". Unfortunately (again), in my opinion I think this new Movie Maker is half-baked, and I preferred the XP or Vista version (which are rather similar to each other).
To get XP version, go to microsoft.com, then to download centre. Search for "Windows Movie Maker 2.6" for Vista (it works with Win7 as well). Or alternatively, if you keep your Windows.old folder during the upgrade, you can copy Movie Maker's file (version 6) to your current installation. I did both of these.

Hi 121waterskier, to use Windows Live Movie Maker, you need to install Windows Live Essentials. And recently Microsoft released to public the 2011 RTW version, you can download it from http://explore.live.com/windows-live-essentials
Regards.
