Recover Calendar items in a mailbox. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Single Exchange 2007 Server.

Yesterday all of the items in a shared calendar where showing up for everyone.  Today that particular calendar is completely empty (within users Outlook accounts.)

From Exchange MC I can see that there are 1496 Items in the calendar.

I don't have the specifics but when one of the admin people pulled a previous "Accepted" calendar response it showed underneath the email header that the meeting is no longer in the calendar, it may have been moved or deleted.

What is the best practice for pulling the 1496 items from the shared calendar and restoring them back into another mailbox?

This is a really hot item as it contains all of the service departments active schedule for their customer base - so any direction would be greatly appreciated!

    Kind Regards,

    Marty

  • Hi,

one possibility is to export the data to a PST file and import that file to anotherr mailbox.

But I´m not sure about the real problem because you told us the the mailbox is empty but why does EMC show up to 1496 items for the mailbox? Why are you not able to connect to this mailbox (e.G. OWA, Outlook) in order to access the items?

  • I can connect to the mailbox and all of the mail items, contacts, etc. are all still there but all of the calendar items are gone.  It's the calendar items that drive the service departments daily routine/schedule.  At any rate, I have exported the calendar to a .pst and brought it back into another account and it didn't bring anything in.

So I was thinking about restoring from an earlier point in time through Exchange 2007 since they probably were deleted.  I however am struggling with the RSG option.

  • Hi,

so if someone deletes the calendar items have you checked the trash?

have you configured a retention time for the database the specified mailbox resides on?

If you have please connect to the mailbox using outlook change to the trash folder and execute recove deleted items

If you don´t have configured the retention time and the elements aren´t stored in the trash then you have to restore an old version of the database and restore the calendar elements from the restored database to the productive database.
