  • Hello,

    for a specific environment i am looking for a option to create a MDT-server without a windows-domain.

    Is this possible?

  • YEs, I do it all the time in my test lab. (I don't have a domain controller)

    MDT is just a file share. Create a local account and grant that local account permisions to the folder and the share.

    Connect to the share using the local account on the server.

  • Never tried it, but I don't see why not.  If you wanted to PXE boot you'd have to use WDS Transport Mode (if you're using WDS), and I've never tested that either.

    Just create and configure the deployment share, create a boot disc, and boot a client on the network from it.  If prompted for credentials to the share, I suppose you'd have to specify a local account on the server.
