  Check for drivers at www.hp.com.
  
  For example: my Photosmart 8250 has no full-featured drivers available for download from HP, but refers to ones included with Windows. I'm satisfied with them.
  
  It's also possible to use Vista drivers, but it may require some work-arounds.

  You have to check with the drivers required as Bobkns suggestion.

  You can check your products compatibility with Windows 7, refer the link http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/windows-7/en-us/default.aspx

  You can also refer the link http://windows7forums.com/windows-7-hardware/1591-installing-hp-photosmart-printer.html which will help you resolving the issue.  Please provide details of the Photosmart to serve you better.
