MDT is not giving final summary wizard at the end of the deployment. RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I am running into a strange situation which i have never faced. I have captured the image and using this wim file in my task sequence. But strangely at the end of deployment final summary wizard is not showing up. It also did not show up when any task fail. However there is a result.xml file is being created at %windir%\temp\Deployment logs which shows the number of error and warning if any task fails.

    So my question is why final summary wizard is not showing up. I have used SkipFinalSummary=NO in my customsetting.ini file.

  • This is ... unusual. Could you post a sample BDD.log?

  • Going through the log now.

    Unfortunately, at the first glance, I see nothing out of the ordinary:

    You are setting the correct value for the SKIPFINALSUMMARY variable:

    Using from [DEFAULT]: SKIPFINALSUMMARY = NO

    Basically, MDT logic for showing the final summary is relatively straight forward:

    After cleanup, which is being executed in your case, LiteTouch.wsf will execute following code snippet - unfortunately, there is no logging in place to figure out what is going on.

    ' Display the final summary wizard (unless skipped)
    				If (not bSkipFinalSummary) or iRetVal <> 0 then
    					If bIsServerCoreOS then
    						If iRetVal = 0 then
    							oShell.Popup "Deployment completed successfully. Review deployment logs for full details.", 0, "Successful Deployment", 64
    						Else
    							oShell.Popup "Deployment did not complete successfully. Review deployment logs for full details.", 0, "Failed Deployment", 48
    						End if
    					ElseIf bIsOEM = True then
    						i = oShell.Popup ( "The OEM Image has been copied to the local machine. Now ready for replication." & _
    							vbNewLine & vbNewLine & "Press OK (Enter) to shutdown (Default automatic shutdown in 20 minutes)." & _
    							vbNewLine & "Press Cancel (Esc) to exit." , 20 * 60, "Finished!", vbOKCancel )
    						If i <> vbCancel then
    							sFinishAction = "SHUTDOWN"
    						End if
    					Else
    						' Display the wizard
    						sCmd = "MSHTA.exe """ & oEnvironment.Substitute("%TEMP%\DeploymentScripts") & "\Wizard.hta"" /definition:Summary_Definition_ENU.xml"
    						oShell.Run sCmd, 1, true
    						' Clean up the scripts
    						oFileHandling.RemoveFolderEx oEnvironment.Substitute("%TEMP%\DeploymentScripts"), oLogging.Debug
    					End if
    					' Clean up any files created since the initial full cleanup
    					oFileHandling.RemoveFolderEx oUtility.LocalRootPath, oLogging.Debug
    Assuming your Litetouch.wsf hasn't been modified, I would try adding additional logging entries to try to narrow down what's going wrong.

    Cheers,
    Anton

  • You are welcome. You could verify that Litetouch.wsf wasn't modified on your end. You could also implement additional logging like this:

    ' Display the final summary wizard (unless skipped)

    				oLogging.CreateEntry "bSkipFinalSummary value: " & bSkipFinalSummary, LogTypeInfo
    				oLogging.CreateEntry "iRetVal value: " & iRetVal, LogTypeInfo
    				If (not bSkipFinalSummary) or iRetVal <> 0 then
    					oLogging.CreateEntry "Evaluating FinalSummary popup.", LogTypeInfo

    						If i <> vbCancel then
    							sFinishAction = "SHUTDOWN"
    						End if

    					Else

    						' Display the wizard
    						oLogging.CreateEntry "About to display the FinalSummary wizard.", LogTypeInfo

    						sCmd = "MSHTA.exe """ & oEnvironment.Substitute("%TEMP%\DeploymentScripts") & "\Wizard.hta"" /definition:Summary_Definition_ENU.xml"
    						oShell.Run sCmd, 1, true

    						' Clean up the scripts

    						oFileHandling.RemoveFolderEx oEnvironment.Substitute("%TEMP%\DeploymentScripts"), oLogging.Debug

    					End if

    					' Clean up any files created since the initial full cleanup

    					oFileHandling.RemoveFolderEx oUtility.LocalRootPath, oLogging.Debug

  • Hi Anton,

    I verified the Litetouch.wsf and it wasn't modified. It was same like which you have provided.

    Also when i created a custom task sequence(only adobe was included in TS) which do not include my captured OS then final summary is appearing.

    Thanks,

    Abhishek
