Policy won't be applied if Security Filtering is enabled

    Question

  • Hi,

we are encountering a strange problem with our group policies (Domain level is Win Server 2008). If Security Filtering for a Group Policy is enabled (when it is set to a group or user), the Policy won't be applied anymore. If Security Filtering is set to "Authenticated users", it works. This happens on every client machine with every Policy.

This is the output of gpresult /r on a client machine:

    >>

The following GPOs were not applied because they were filtered out
    -------------------------------------------------------------------
            Custom Outlook 2013
                Filtering:  Not Applied (Unknown Reason)

    <<

The Event Viewer on the client machine does not show any errors.

I have enabled Group Policy Debugging on the client machine, searched for the GUID of the GPO and this is what I've found:

    ProcessGPO(User):  Deferring search for <LDAP://cn={630E1C98-BA77-457A-A464-72AD73878CD0},cn=policies,cn=system,DC=xyz,DC=internal>

EvalList: Object <cn={630E1C98-BA77-457A-A464-72AD73878CD0},cn=policies,cn=system,DC=xyz,DC=internal> cannot be accessed/is disabled/or has no extensions

I have already recreated some Group Policies, but that doesn't help.

    Any ideas?

    Best regards

    Sebastian
