Windows Update Error code 80073712 RRS feed

  • Question

I have been getting this specific error code since mid January.  All the other forums seem to point to a corrupt reg key, but none of the solutions seem to work.  This error is generated when Vista tries to use Windows Update to download an important update KB943411.  This problem seems to affect other issues as well, including Macromedia Flash and the drivers for Nvidia cards.  Since this problem began, I also get an error dialog box telling me that Flash cannot be found; I also cannot update to Flash 9 because of this error.

I attempted reinstalling MS update, erasing pending.xtm file, etc.

It is rediculous that MS hasn't sent out a patch for this yet.  There are thousands of pages of people with the same error and frankly, I think that it suggests that Vista as a product is in danger of failing because it is simply to complex to service.

    My system:

    Dell XPS 720

    Vista Ultimate
