Can not burn cd/dvd with Vista RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hey there!

    I can´t burn cd/dvd with vista.
    I have tested 3 different dvd rw drives, 4 different burn apps inc vistas integrated burn app.
    If you have any input i´m more then happy.'

    One thing i have noticed is that vista tries to format the disk you put in the dvd even if it´s not a dvd-rw or cd-rw

    Best regards Daniel

  • Hi Tektec,

    Mostly, the issue is caused by a third party burning software, could you please take the following steps to troubleshoot the issue?

    Modify the Registry

    =====================

    1. Click the Start Button, type regedit in the "Start Search" text box and then press ENTER.

    2. Navigate to the following key:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

    3. Right click the {4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} entry, choose "Export", select Desktop in the Save in box and type backup in File Name. Click Save.

    Please Note: The backup file is on the Desktop and named backup.reg. We can simply restore the registry by double-clicking the backup.reg file.

    4. Highlight this key ({4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}), on the right pane, and then check if Upperfilters and Lowerfilters value are present. If so, please right click on the values and select "Delete" to remove them.

    5. Restart the computer to test the issue again.

    Does it work?

    Hope it helps.

    Best regards,

    Did you try the Automated troubleshooter that I linked you to above?

  • Hello!

    Yes, the troubleshooter did´nt find anything wrong :-( .

    When in google the internet i noticed that people with the same problem re-installed vista to fix it.
    That´s insane,there must be a other solution.
    I´ll be more than grateful if somebody have som feedback on my problem.

  • Hi Tecktec,

    Could you please do a test to check if you can burn files in Windows Explorer directly?

    For detail steps:

    Burn a CD or DVD
