Trouble Deploying Office 365 Pro-Plus via MDT RRS feed

  • Question

  • Deploying office is taking hours using  this SourcePath= "".   I thought the install was frozen the last few days but when I let it run overnight it did finish. This tells me the installer is  likely grabbing the files from M$ directly.

How do I write my config to force it to pull the files directly from my MDT server?  Every time I add the server path I get an error saying the files could not be found and am connected to the internet, but if I manually copy and install locally from the root of c: it works perfect.

    My local install:  SourcePath="C:\O365\Office"

Server Source Path that is Failing but works if put into explorer:

    "\\server\deploymentshare$\Applications\Microsoft Office 365 2106_v1911\Office"

    Thank You

  • First I used the Office Deployment Tool (ODT) to create my package/download of Office365. I edited the configuration xml to download the files locally. I then copied the "Office" folder over to another folder called O365 on my MDT server. In O365 I have the setup.exe, InstallOffice365x64.xml and Office folder. The O365 was then imported into MDT as a new application.

I created the "InstallOffice..." file and use that to apply application settings like disabling the first run movie or things like that.

In MDT the application install command is simply "setup.exe /configure InstallOffice365x64.xml"
