  • A bugcheck (BSOD) is a mechanism to protect your PC from damage.

    Bug Check 0x3B: SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION

This indicates that an exception happened while executing a routine that transitions from non-privileged code to privileged code.

    Cause

This error has been linked to excessive paged pool usage and may occur due to user-mode graphics drivers crossing over and passing bad data to the kernel code.

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff558949%28VS.85%29.aspx

To see the cause I have to take a look at the dumps with the Debugging Tools for Windows.

Please start the Windows Explorer and go to the folder C:\Windows\Minidump. Next, copy the dmp files to your desktop, zip all dmp into 1 zip file and upload the zip file to your public Skydrive [1] folder and post a link here.

  • Oh man, My computer had told me Minidump, was the reason my computer kept shutting off so i went to that folder and perm deleted those files.... So i dont know what to do now. ....

I feel like this is a virus because it wont let me open norton, everything else works..and it wont let me  use the inernet.

But as soon as i open other programs, i get the blue screen and shuts off,

    Do you suggest anything else?

    Thanks

  • Usually viruses runs in user mode but BSOD occurs if programs runnign in kernel mode encouter issuese.

I suspect that this is caused by the incompatibility between the antivirus and your system. Please temporary remove Norton and check the result.

don't delete the files. Produce a new blue screen and upload the new dump.

  • Hi,

Had a look at your dump files. Some of the dump files are relating to iaStor.sys which is to do with the sata hard disk and how it controls it. That being said i would run a hardware check on your hard disk to see if has developed some bad areas. It may need replacing. here is a link to help you run tests on your harddisk.- http://www.mypchealth.co.uk/GuideTests.php  If it fails the test means its bad .... if it passes you might as well do a memory test as may have a bad module but i do suspect the hard disk.

Ok, I looked at the dumps, and most of them show custom Bug check codes of the Intel Storage driver:

Unknown bugcheck code (9087) - Unknown bugcheck description

    some have this code:

DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL (d1) - An attempt was made to access a pageable (or completely invalid) address at an interrupt request level (IRQL) that is too high.

    KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (1e)

    iaStor +0x4aa73
    0x9087

        Image name: iaStor.sys

As you can see the driver is very old. Try to install the newest one, please:

  • Ok, But i cannot access internet on that computer even on safemode with netwroking, and what do you mean 1.46 version of what?

    Thanks once again!

  • Yes  I do, should i download them and then transfer it to the infected computer? And do you think these drivers will fix the BSOD or is it the virus that is causing this?
    Saturday, December 11, 2010 1:12 AM
  • drivers are causing the crashes. Update them to get the PC stable and next run malware bytes to delete malware.

Have you checked your HDD for errors?

  • I dont think so, how do i check it for errrors?
    Sunday, December 19, 2010 5:15 PM
  • In Windows, open the command prompt with admin rights and run this:

    chkdsk C: /r /f

If this reports that everything is ok, download a diagnostic tool from your HDD manufacture and run it.
