Upgrade to System center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager from 2007 RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi,

    I would like to upgrade to System Center Configuration Manager 2012 R2. The current version that I have is System center Configuration Manager 2007. I am confused because, I saw that the only possible upgrade path is as below.

    System Center 2012 RTM -> System Center 2012 SP1 -> System center 2012 R2

    On the other hand, I have also seen that it is possible for direct upgrade to 2012 R2. I would appreciate your thoughts on this.

  • To be clear, there is not an upgrade path from 2007 to 2012. They will be 2 different systems.

    Correct me if I am wrong, but your Software Licensing Center should have the installation for SCCM and it would likely be the most current. When I setup SP1 it was all in the same installation. I have not made the move to R2 yet.

  • To be clear and explicit, you can migrate directly from 2007 to 2012 R2, no need for 2012 RTM or SP1. As mentioned, it is a *migration* and not an upgrade.

  • Hi,

    if you mean Migration, we have on this link:http://technet.microsoft.com/en-US/un-us/library/gg682006.aspx the following Information: With System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager, you can migrate an existing Configuration Manager 2007 SP2 infrastructure or an existing System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager infrastructure to System Center 2012 R2 Configuration Manager.

    however, if you mean LICENSING UPGRADE, than you need to have an active Software assurance of your SCCM 2007 than in your VLSC you have the System Center Standard 2012 R2 includes SCCM 2012 R2.

    thanks
