help with icacls command for subfolders RRS feed

  • Question

  • I've got RootA folder permisssions set so all child objects inherit.

Under RootA is an exisiting SubfolderB. I want to issue an icacls command that sets SubfolderB to disable inheritence from RootA, remove all the old permissions, set new permissions for UserY to (RX,W) and then replace all child files and folders to inherit permissions from this obeject.

This is my command but it's not quite cutting the mustard so I was hoping the hive mind could help? icacls "R:\RootA\SubfolderB" /inheritance:r grant:r domain\UserY:(OI)(CI)(RX,W) /T

  • I've been able to do it with two commands:

    icacls "R:\RootA\SubfolderB" /inheritance:r grant:r domain\UserY:(OI)(CI)(RX,W) /T

then reset all the sub files and folders:

    icacls "R:\RootA\SubfolderB\*" /q /c /t /reset
