Confused on the different Project 2013 versions. RRS feed

  • Question

  • I read everything here (http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/project/project-management-and-ppm-software-comparisons-microsoft-project-FX103797367.aspx), but still unclear on the different versions.  Can someone explain the key differences?

Standard and Pro, I get.  But for example, I see Project Online, Project Pro for Office 365, and Project Online with Project Pro for Office 365.  If I have Project Pro for Office 365, why would I also need Project Online / the last option (Proj Online with Pro for 365)? And other than the "Pro" features, is there a difference between "Online" and "Office 365" delivery method in the first 2 options?

Also is "Project Server 2013 and Project Professional 2013" any different than Proj Online with Pro for 365 other than one is on site, one is cloud?

Just looking for some clear explaination of the versions to help determine purchase.

    Thanks in advance.

  • Project Online is an infrastructure as a service product that allows you to work with Project Server hosted in the cloud.

Project Pro (either delivered through the subscription on Office 365 or through a MSI installation) is designed to work with Project Server - again either installed on premises or through Project Online.

You may find contacting a Project Partner is a good use of your time and effort.
