Project 2016 Pro not splitting tasks to go around my recurring events RRS feed

  • Question

  • Hi Have a project set up that has a series of meetings that occur once a week, once a month and once a quarter. Then I have a series of tasks that make up the main body of the work. Once I level this I expected Project to split the main body of work around the recurring events so that the project team can attend its meetings but it doesn't. Instead it seems to have shifted every task that should occur during the overlap with the recurring meetings and move them to after the series has completed.

Firstly, why is it doing this? And second, how do I make it so it splits the main tasks around the recurring ones? I have the option enabled in resource leveling for Project to be able to split tasks.

    Thanks for any help,

    Daniel

  • Hello Daniel,

One of project's little pitfalls I'm afraid. you have to tell Project TWICE that it should split tasks. Once in the Leveling options (I suppose you noted that one) but also, in File, Options, Schedule, find the checkbox Split in progress tasks.

When both these splitting options are On, Leveling will do as you want.

  • Thanks for the response.

That option is selected...and yet it won't split tasks...

    Any further ideas?

  • Hi,

There are no more "normal" ways to explain this. Can you sznd the file to

    jandemesATprom-ade.be

    (Replace AT by @)

I'll have a look what may be wrong.
