Unable to open some excel file in sharepoint site  getting the below error

    Unable to Load Workbook
Error The workbook that you selected cannot be loaded because it contains the following features that are not supported by Excel Services:

External references (links to other workbooks)
Comments, ActiveX controls, Shapes, Text Boxes, Pictures, WordArt, Clip Art, Embedded OLE objects, Ink Annotations, Forms Toolbar controls, Control Toolbox controls, Charts that are part of a group, Signature Lines, or Camera objects

    Contact the workbook author.

We have already enabled Excel service for the site and added into trusted file and this issue is only in this site remainig  others sites are working fine.

Getting same result in different browsers too..

  • Thanks Rahul,

I checked open in the clinet application  in advanced setting of the document library

    Opening browser-enabled documents

    <input id="ctl00_PlaceHolderMain_OpenDocumentSection_ctl00_RadDefaultItemOpenPreferClient" checked="checked" name="ctl00$PlaceHolderMain$OpenDocumentSection$ctl00$DefaultItemOpen" type="radio" value="RadDefaultItemOpenPreferClient" /><label for="ctl00_PlaceHolderMain_OpenDocumentSection_ctl00_RadDefaultItemOpenPreferClient">Open in the client application</label>
    <input id="ctl00_PlaceHolderMain_OpenDocumentSection_ctl00_RadDefaultItemOpenBrowser" name="ctl00$PlaceHolderMain$OpenDocumentSection$ctl00$DefaultItemOpen" type="radio" value="RadDefaultItemOpenBrowser" /><label for="ctl00_PlaceHolderMain_OpenDocumentSection_ctl00_RadDefaultItemOpenBrowser">Display as a Web page</label>

But still some users are getting the same error. Is there any setting needs to changed.

Make sure that you have no objects present in the Excel which are not supported in Excel services

  • Hi,

If you want to use excel services you need to follow these restrictions since they are available by design.

However if you want to operate on them like a normal files then you can simple download them or open them in excel to operate instead in browser.

I hope this will help you out.
