Site Template set default page layout RRS feed

  • We have a SP 2010 publishing site... when we create a new page by default it uses layout X.. we want to change layout X to layout Y can someone explain how and where I do this?

  • if you change it manually in the parent site all sub site will inherits this behavior .

    Or 

    Save site template with your desired modifications and then create a site from this site template

    Or Create feature which modify the page template at Web scope and activate it for each site

  • which site template are you using? is it a wiki site or blog site or some other site?

  • go to Site Actions -- Site Settings -- Look and Feel -- Page Layouts and Site Templates: and here you will find an option to set default page layout for current site 

    and for more details

    and remember this option comes with publishing site
