usbhub.sys error on shutdown? RRS feed

  • Question

  • When I go to shutdown my pc it goes all the way to the shutdown screen than I get the Bsod saying error usbhub.sys .  I just got a new thermaltake gaming keyboard which is causing the problem.  If I switch out this keyboard everything is fine.  I also noticed if i uninstall the generic usb hub driver i can shut it down normally with the keyboard attached.  This keyboard has 2 external usb ports built into it.  Is there anyway to fix this besides using a different keyboard?  I am using win7 64 bit.

    Thanks

  • It worked, Thank you guys so much!  I'm sure this thread will help others as I have noticed quite a few people having this problem.

nice to hear that it is fixed. When you look at the changelog of the driver you see fixes for several BSODs:

    * Fixed BSOD when using the filter driver with devices that are auto
suspended by other drivers in the stack.

    * Fixed BSOD for devices with endpoints that have '0' for wMaxPacketSize.

    * Fixed BSOD when cancelling large transfers on high speed devices.

  • To see the cause I have to take a look at the dumps with the Debugging Tools for Windows.

Please start the Windows Explorer and go to the folder C:\Windows\Minidump. Next, copy the dmp files to your desktop, zip all dmp into 1 zip file and upload the zip file to your public Skydrive [1] folder and post a link here.

As you can see the driver is from 2006, so over 4 years old!

    Install the latest version:

  • Hi Andre,

I am not hijacking. I just found the link to dump files and tried to solve the problem. There is a difference of 11 minutes between my reply and yours and the advice was the same.

The most important thing is that the issue will be solved.

    Happy new year.

    Regards.

  • Okay! Understood now! So, this is a rule between me and you: If one replies, he should be the one to solve the BSOD problem and the second one should only add additional information or solve it if the first one have not solved it. Hope all is clear like that!

Yes, Mike Bur, Auggy and others handle this the same.  And everyone should do this. Only reply if you have addition which input which the other user missed or overlooked. Remember I did this in your topics, too. I proposed your reply as answer and added a short hint that the driver was the Intel graphic driver.

    Thank you!

This one had been bugging me for ages on my Server 2012 R2 install. It is because i have a Alpha cool LCD unit connected and it uses a libusb driver :) I updated to the latest version of the filter driver and now all is well.
