Media Center in Vista not working RRS feed

  • Question

  • I have Vista Ultimate x32 installed and finally got around to wanting to try the Windows Media Center.  Every time I try to launch it, it gives me an error saying 'Media center has stopped working...".  I searched the web and the few suggestions didn't work for me, if I could perform them at all.  Media Center did work at one point as I remember trying it once.

I noticed this is a common issue with Media Center.

  • I had this problem too. After about a week MC '...has stopped working...'

Instead of using one gigantic folder (260GB) with two subfolders in it (200 and 60GB) I created 6 smaller folders ranging from 40 to 60GB. Works fine and much faster.

DO NOT USE subfolders! Tried it - didn't fix the problem, you still will get '...has stopped working...' error.

Very odd but looks like MC is chokeing on folders/subfolders larger than 50-60GB or so.
